This ash catcher is 5" tall. This piece contains two joints: a 19mm female joint that is able to house a bowl that has a 19mm male component, and a 19mm male piece that connects to the female joint of the waterpipe. 

This ash catcher serves several different purposes: the main chamber is going to catch the ash that falls in so that your waterpipe remains clean; the showerhead percolator is going to filter out any unwanted contaminants, as well as help cool down the smoke.
